How to Create a Twitter Account
Twitter is a social networking/microblogging service which enables its users to send and read other users’ messages called tweets. Twitter is similar to FaceBook in that you have a profile page and this is where your tweets appear. These are publicly visible by default but you can limit who sees them to your list of friends. Friends on Twitter are called followers and following and being followed is what Twitter is all about.
Go to www.twitter.com and click the Sign Up button
Next you will see a Sign Up page where you will be asked for some basic information to sign up for your account.
Twitter is very clever and it will let you know if all your information is correct as you type.
Unlike FaceBook you can change your Twitter username anytime. However picking one can be tricky as a lot of popular and common ones are already taken. Generally businesses or organisations should try and chose one that represents their brand usually their domain name. Media on Mars is mediaonmarsWA. If it’s for fun you can use anything but either way you’re limited to 15 characters.
This is where you find people on Twitter. A very handy option is the Find Friends tab. It will ask you to enter the login details for your email account and it will search your contacts and display anyone who is already on Twitter. Then you can select who you would like to follow from that list.
Alternatively you can simply use the Find on Twitter and search for people the same way as you would on Google.
