Telethon Kids: Koorlungkus Yarning

This Early Language Project, part of a broader Urban Aboriginal Ear Health Program, asked Aboriginal families what they believe is important in babies’ early language and communication behaviour and examined how language connects babies with family, culture, and place.

The project set out to empower Aboriginal families to trust cultural ways of teaching babies to listen, learn and talk, and to share knowledge with other Aboriginal mums, dads, grandparents and caregivers. The resulting video portrays Aboriginal families yarning with their babies and is used to help other families understand the benefits of early listening and talking.
