Bike Week

Visit website

Bike Week is the annual celebration of riding a bike, delivered by WestCycle and the Department of Transport. Held every year across Western Australia in March the series of events is not to be missed.

Media on Mars worked with WestCycle on this project delivering a new brand and all their tools and collateral: mobile-and-tablet-friendly website, responsive email marketing newsletter, social media branding and printed stationery.

Branding

Mars created a brand that was fun and engaging with a festival feel for the logo, printed material and website. It was important that all collateral was appealing and accessible to a broad audience. Various textures, supporting elements and a strong colour palette were used to communicate the energy and fun of the event. A photo shoot was also held to capture Western Australian cyclists to localise and make the imagery relatable to its focus audience.

Website & Email Marketing

The main focus of the website design was to communicate to people when and where events were on. Wire-framing and user testing mapped the customer journey and then the branding elements were applied to design the look and feel of the website. Events were given prominence on the home page with direct links to featured listings plus a chronological list of recent happenings.

Links and social media embeds were used to ensure fresh content was constantly available to returning visitors, but also to encourage them to post to Bike Week’s social media channels with a unique hashtag  #BikeWeekWA.

As Bike Week is an initiative of the Department of Transport, accessibility had to be considered following the department's guidelines and in adherence to all of government policy for online resources.
